how it all came together at Our Southeast Asian Restaurant & Bar

Bone Appétit

Bone Kettle is a family owned & operated business in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. Growing up in the San Gabriel Valley, Chef Erwin Tjahyadi was exposed to so many great Asian cuisine and inspirations but knew that there was something missing; there were no iconic restaurants boasting dishes from Southeast Asia he loves. After cooking for several years & burnt out from cooking foods he did not connect with, Erwin decided that it was his time to be the storyteller of his own food.

From the Asia Kitchen with Love

20 years after he immigrated, Chef Erwin ventured back to Southeast Asia to reconnect with his past and find his love again in cooking. The pungent smells of the market, beautiful spices, cooking with love and intention.

Old & New

Taking heirloom recipes from his mother and inspirations from his travels, Chef Erwin infused the old with the new, adding bright ingredients available locally with his techniques, telling a story of a modern Southeast Asia

Chef Donna Famisan

“Cooking Southeast Asian food is a very personal journey for me. It’s like coming home to a delicious smell from the kitchen and eating together with family. I feel like a sense of belonging with every dish I taste/experiment with because it’s rooted on happy memories, warmth, community and the concept of sharing a meal/coming together. “
